I know what you’re thinking. “Another article about how to fight cellulite and stretch marks? Is there really a cure to stretch marks and lumpy skin? Cellulite only affects people who don’t eat healthily and exercise, right? And why can’t we just love the skin we’re in, even if it’s not perfectly smooth?” Don’t worry, all of your questions will be answered here. This article is 100% real with you and is written from complete personal experience with finding out how to fight cellulite and stretch marks. In my search for a way to fight these blemishes, I decided to partner with RoxSpa Newport Beach to see what treatment options were viable for me.
I’m not here to advertise for pharmaceutical companies, nor are my hopes to degrade our bodies. We are all beautiful. I simply want to share my journey with you. A journey of loving my body and the skin I am in, and feeling insanely confident when I look at my reflection in the mirror. This has all come through dedication to my goals, research, and trial-and-error!
As a precursor, please read my first article on cellulite treatment before diving in here. Not only will it save me from sounding like a broken record, but I promise you, my secrets will make much more sense in this article if you do.
If you have already read my first article, you know that cellulite has no mercy for anyone. We have all dealt with its unpleasant and impolite presence.
“A common misconception many of us have is that you only suffer from cellulite if you carry excess weight… wrong! Body weight, genetics, hormones, gender and lifestyle all play a role. Studies have shown that women are hereditarily predisposed to cellulite.”
Unfortunately, naturally tight and even skin is really hard to achieve for some, no matter how hard we work. But, I know a secret. There are TONS of options here to help you kiss your cellulite goodbye! I want to share with you my personal struggle with cellulite and stretch marks, and how I finally found a cohesive approach that actually gave me the smooth, lifted skin I desired.
I have always been a firm believer in taking the utmost care of my body, both physically, through wholesome diet and exercise, and mentally, through positive lifestyle choices and a healthy mindset. I have dedicated myself to myself.
I love the body I am in, and I love looking into the mirror and seeing evidence of the daily commitment I’ve made to look good and feel even better. But in all honesty, I have always been unhappy with the cellulite and stretch marks on my butt and thighs. I put in a lot of work to stay toned and lean, but it made no difference. I still noticed lumpy, wrinkled skin.
This scenario is likely one you’ve been in yourself, especially as women. The genetic gods decided our fates a long time ago, and cellulite is a predisposition as a female. It always has been and always will be. We can eat whole, clean foods and exercise to no end and we still won’t have the firm, radiant skin we seek. So, what can we do about it?
I discussed in detail two individual treatment options in my first article. To briefly summarize, here’s a recap on both of those treatments:
Sculptra® is an injectable treatment for cellulite. The active ingredient, poly-L-lactic-acid, works to increase collagen to the treated area, greatly diminishing the appearance of cellulite by improving skin thickness.
Accent™ is another great treatment option available today that can be employed along with Sculptra®. Accent™ is a modern, safe, non-invasive treatment to improve the appearance of cellulite. This treatment uses a machine with two handpieces, both of which apply radiofrequency and mechanical massage to the affected areas to greatly recover the texture of skin.
When I first learned about these treatments, I figured I didn’t have much to lose. I doubted they would help much initially, but I was so tired of not being completely happy when I put on a bikini and felt it was at least worth a shot. Looking back now, I am ecstatic I made the decision to try both Accent™ and Sculptra®. Not only am I seeing the results I’ve always wanted, but I also get to share these best-kept secrets with you!
I chatted with a colleague of mine and took the time to answer some questions they had on the treatments I used for cellulite and stretch mark treatment. After our conversation, I felt an immense pull to share my experience and opinion with others as well.
A: I had done Accent™ two times before I tried Sculptra®. I wanted to see what results I could get with just the laser treatments that Accent™ had to offer. After understanding that both treatment modalities give better results when combined with each other, I decided to have both done conjunctively. I saw great results with Accent™ and Sculptra® merged together. Not only could I visibly notice fat “disappearing” with the tightening and toning of my skin, but I also saw a decrease in scar tissue that had been an issue for years around my hamstring origins near the glutes.
When nurse Jolene performed Sculptra® on my targeted areas for the first time, she used Accent™ as a cohesive reinforcement to better activate the injections. The laser treatment helped to stimulate the Scluptra® injections so that my tissue could begin building new collagen in those areas. The injections played a huge impact in the diminished appearance of the cellulite by breaking down both scar and fibrous tissues that were causing the appearance of dimpled, uneven flesh.
A: No, it was not painful at all. There’s a slight pinprick but after the initial prick, you feel nothing.
A: I had Sculptra® injections in my glutes only, and I had both my glutes and the back of my thighs targeted with Accent™.
A: After Accent™ I noticed tighter and smoother skin, a lifted booty, diminished stretch marks, and the minimized appearance of cellulite. The results were fairly immediate. However, I did notice that for me to maintain the taut glutes and thighs I wanted, it was best to continue with several rounds of treatments spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart.
After the Sculptra® injections in my glutes, I did have some bruising right after treatment for about a week. But within about 10 days, my butt looked lifted and voluptuous! I had more shape and lift, especially right under my cheeks, with very little unwanted wrinkling overall in that area. I did require more than one treatment to get the results I wanted, which is because the collagen must regenerate over time in the targeted areas.
