Halloween is a time that is known for being a scary holiday but for parents, there are more scares than just the ghosts or monsters hiding in the shadows. Candy is a common part of Halloween and it’s understandable that kids want to enjoy that aspect of the holiday. However, it is important for parents and anyone getting involved in Halloween to make sure there are some aspects that make it healthy. Eating all of that candy isn’t good for anyone luckily, there are healthy Halloween treats for kids that they will enjoy. If you hand out candy, add some healthy options or if you throw a party, put out healthy treats. As long as you make it fun, kids will enjoy them just as much as candy.
For kids, Halloween is only scary because of the monsters that may be hiding in their closet but adults have a scarier reality than that. The reality is that the scariest part of Halloween is all of the unhealthy treats that are being served to children. Kids go door to door to get candy and parties serve up dish after dish of sweet treats. But those treats aren’t usually healthy and it’s important to find a balance. While in a perfect world, all Halloween treats would be healthy, that just isn’t the case. But if parents mix in healthy Halloween treats for kids with a minimum amount of unhealthy treats, it would be better. Not perfect, but better.
