The gym is a place where most people want to feel safe, not judged. With so many people working on their bodies and so much heavy equipment laying around, it’s not exactly the place where childhood pranks are often played on anyone. But there is one day when society lets loose a bit and pranks can happen just about anywhere: April Fools Day. There are a few April Fools pranks for the fitness addict that are also perfect for the gym.
It’s important to remember that a gym is a place where injury is always possible. But this does not mean you can’t have a little fun at the gym. All you need are some April Fools pranks for the fitness addict along with some courage and you can lighten up the mood in the gym. One thing you may realize is that the best way to get a laugh is to poke fun at yourself. Take the tropes of the different types of people who visit the gym or utilize the things that are needed at the gym in order to pull off some pretty amazing pranks.
The after-gym shower is very important, especially if you work out early on in the day or right in the middle of the day. Actually, no matter what time you go to the gym or work out, the shower is important. Get a new body wash and pour out a bit of the soap, set that aside so you don’t waste it. Then, place a bit of plastic wrap over the opening and screw the lid back on. Then talk that new soap up to your gym partner and ask if they want to try it. Let’s see how long it takes them to realize there is plastic wrap preventing them from getting the soap out.
Many people use protein powder before, during, or after their workouts. Take your friend’s protein powder and replace it with flour. Save their protein powder to return it to them but make sure it is hidden away so they don’t catch on. Then just sit back and watch as they use the flour to make their protein drink and wait until they take a sip. It shouldn’t take them long to realize the drink isn’t quite the same. “April Fools!”
Everyone has seen the gym selfie on Instagram and some look more professional than others. Bring a camera with you to the gym and as you start working out, go up to others and ask them to take a picture of you. Not a bad idea if you want a quick pic to post on social media. But keep asking, over and over and over again. Eventually, they will get annoyed but the question is, how will they react once they have reached their limit? Make sure you ask people who are right in the middle of working out, not just some random person walking by.
Many people bring a change of clothes to the gym and that will make this joke even easier. Grab a pair of the most embarrassing underwear you can find and write your friend’s name inside just under or on the tag. Get a gym employee to eventually “find” the underwear and announce that they are looking for your friend based on the name that was written in the underwear. When your friend goes up to see what the problem is, the employee can explain that this pair of underwear was found in a very odd place and they wanted to make sure it found its way back to the rightful owner.
Sometimes, a prank is just about making others laugh. Bring a bag filled with junk food to the gym with you. Then, while you workout, eat. Of course, you will pay for this later, but it will be funny. Eat as you workout and then, if you catch someone staring, ask if they want some. Make sure to eat in a very obnoxious way, fill your mouth with fries, or take a really big bite of a burger. The goal is to get people to stare and for you to catch them. After this, make sure you go with healthy treats more often.
